What do I need to build a website?

Two things, and two things only. A Domain name, and content. That is it! Think about this: EVERY website you have ever been on is only those two things, ever, and there is no exception! A Domain name, with content placed on it. The third thing that people "assume" they need is gobs of money to throw at an expensive web designer, and this is certainly not the case!!! If you had gobs of money to throw at a web designer, then you would already HAVE a website!

So, no expensive web designer, just a domain name and content.

Domain names are cheap, and you are providing the content! Now, you do need a place to put the content so the rest of the world can see it, and this is called "hosting". Most of the time, you will want to "host" the content with the same company that you "register" your domain with. This gives you full control over your domain's ownership, as well as the content of the site!
